Fast flight. A quieter future.

Faster than sound with a quieter

future in mind. NASA's experimental X-59

aircraft completed six flights in one

week in September, 2026. That was

its busiest week yet. It also

reached a new top speed, Mach

1.53, roughly 1,010

miles per hour. The goal isn't

just speed. The aircraft's unusual shape

is designed to soften the loud

sonic boom into a quieter thump.

Engineers are still testing its performance.

Sound measurements and community research are

separate steps ahead. This is a

research aircraft, not a passenger jet,

and quieter commercial flights aren't available

yet. But each carefully tested flight

helps answer a big question. Could

faster travel someday be easier on

the people below?

Seize the day. Share the good.
