A wild nursery could give endangered ferrets a stronger start

I’m Bennett Blackwood.

This tiny explorer has a very big future to help build. In northern Arizona, conservation teams released nineteen endangered black-footed ferrets this spring. And they're trying something new: a wild nursery at Garland Prairie. The hope is that ferrets will breed there, raise their young, and teach them survival skills in the wild. Future youngsters could then help restore populations elsewhere. That next step is still a goal, not a result. But biologists, volunteers, ranchers and conservation partners are giving these remarkable animals another chance. You can learn about supporting the Phoenix Zoo's ferret recovery work through our website.
