Dinner could wait: two sailors help save a driver from a submerged car — transcript
Two sailors went out for dinner—and helped
save a man from a car underwater.
I'm Bennett Blackwood.
In Pensacola, Florida, Jesse Arguello and
Skyluv Rios were on their way to get food
when a car crashed into Bayou Chico Creek.
It was March fifteenth, twenty twenty-six.
Rios called nine-one-one.
Arguello went into the water, broke through
the sunroof, unbuckled the driver and brought
him to the surface.
Rios helped the man onto shore and stayed
with him until emergency crews arrived.
Then Arguello went back to the car to check
for anyone else.
Here's how he described that first moment.
And then EMS arrived.
My first thought was, this guy needs help.
I really didn't think of anything else.
Two people, two different jobs—and a man
brought to safety.
Local station FOX Ten reported that the
driver reached the hospital with injuries
that weren't life-threatening.
The Navy recorded both rescuers telling
their story.
Sometimes helping starts with one simple
thought: someone needs me.
Good stories every day.
