When flood-damaged roads cut off a group in Hawaii, help arrived by helicopter. I'm Bennett Blackwood. On March twentieth, twenty twenty-six, Hawaii National Guard crews helped evacuate thirty-two children, fifteen adults, and two dogs from the Waiʻanae area of Oahu. Crew chief Albert Iokepa later described the mission in a recorded interview. We helped evacuate 32 keiki, 15 adults, and two dogs. His account gives the numbers, but also something more personal: what it meant to help his own community. The source footage shows helicopter activity and people boarding. It is archive material from the March storm response. Our separate portrait of Iokepa is older, from a November twenty twenty-three wildfire operation, and is labeled that way. A later official report confirmed the forty-seven-person airlift as part of the wider storm response. Different crews and local responders worked together to turn an isolated group into people on their way to safety. Good stories every day. Follow Carpe Diem News. Seize the day. Share the good.
