Tom Pennekamp returned to the park named for his grandfather to help begin its next chapter. I'm Bennett Blackwood. On Earth Day, his family joined community partners to break ground on a new Discovery Center and Aquarium at John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park in Key Largo. I remember the very proud face he had that day, and I think I probably had that same proud face on my, on me today as well. The fifty-two-million-dollar project is planned to open in twenty twenty-eight. Its exhibits will introduce visitors to Florida's reef and the coastal habitats around it.
