At fourteen, Sophie Schell rallied one hundred three volunteers to rebuild a neglected Washington trail in just two days.

The Eagle Scout project restored six-tenths of a mile on the George Washington Carver Trail in May twenty twenty-one. Her team repainted a bridge, installed ten signs and nine drainage features, cleared invasive plants, and hauled away more than twenty bags of trash. Sophie raised more than seven hundred dollars, then organized the work in Ward Eight.
Sophie Schell, original recorded interview: In eighth grade, when it came time to pick an Eagle Scout project, I knew that I wanted to have a large impact on the community that had given so much to me.
The result was more than a cleaner path. Young children, older neighbors, Scouts, and park staff built it together. You can help Ward Eight Woods care for neighborhood green spaces through the official link in our article. Good stories every day. Follow Carpe Diem News.
